Continue working on the mushroom house, today I added the stairs.

Another light source was placed right above the stairs to make it better for viewing.

Next step will be opening up a window and a door, after which i plan to put in some tables, chairs, maybe a bed, bookshelf etc. Really I have no idea what should be put inside, and how do Smurfs live in houses like this one is totally beyond me. They definitely have much better houses.

Anyway, it is really hard to create objects with irregular shapes. And how to make realistic textures is outside my reach at this moment.

Rendering a scene might take very long. So using simple objects is a good habit.

The first image I used torus to build the wall and roof of the mushroom house, thus it took more than 3 mins to render a 640*480 size image; the second one I used difference { cone1, cone2} to build the same (almost same) house, while this time it took only about 15 secs.

In the beginning

I decided to pick up POV-Ray as my new hobby.

Buildings seem to be generally suitable for modeling, maybe I'll start from here.

In the past, I have done some modeling using POV-Ray for lab instruments, and for illustrating some terminologies in my field, but of course they are relatively easy, and POV-Ray works really well on making animations for this purpose.
